by T C on December 14, 2009

Hi there!

Welcome back to the blog here and this is the first blog post on nutrition here. As I understand from most people I spoken to about nutrition, many are always confused about what are the best snack food they should be eating when they are not having their regular meals or don’t have time for their meals due to certain circumstances. So I thought I address this very common problem most Perth Women Boot camp members might be facing.

The food I recommend here are really superfood that you can bring along with you on-the-go and eat them and know that you’ve done your health and waistline a favour. There is no preparation time only just drop them in your bag and eat them when you need them. So how hard is that? So no more excuses that you’re starving and losing control over eating. Weight loss is really not that hard if you makes things simple.

The top 5 on-the-go fat-burning snack food list goes like this…

Almond NutsAlmonds

Almond is  a great snack food on the go and taste really good. Just 1/4 cup of almond nuts (which is about 20-24 nuts) has 9 grams of fiber and 7 gram of protein. Sure, nuts has fat but fat are not all bad. The almond nuts actually has very low level of saturated fat (aka the “unhealthy” fat) and high level of healthy unsaturated fat. And 1/4 cup of almond has as much calcium as 1/4 cup of milk which is great for preventing osteoporosis commonly occurred in women. Also these incredible nuts help lower LDL (bad) cholesterol. Alright let’s go NUTS!

Apple

RedAppleLike we’re always told, an apple a day keeps the doctor away. Well apple might just keep the FAT away too!

Apple has a thing called pectin that slows down the digestion  of sugar and create a sense of fullness. It is a great snack food 2-4 hours before  a main meal. Because you have to chew to eat your apple, chewing will send a signal to the brain that you’re having enough food and that can help prevent overeating.

Pear

pearAnother very portable food that you have no excuses not to have on-the-go. A medium pear  has 4 grams of fiber and requires a lot of chewing just like the apple. It is also a great source of vitamin C which functions as a antioxidant in the body.

Goji Berries aka wolfberries, dried

goji berries3 tablespoons of Goji berries which is a serve, supplies you with 4 grams of protein and 4 grams of fiber which is both excellent for keeping the sugar level in control.  It has the highest level of antioxidant among all other berries. Because of its high level of antioxidant, this made Goji berries a excellent anti-aging food. Forget about those Goji berry juice that is loaded with sugars that do not has the same level of antioxidants as its original state.

Tuna, canned in water

open can of tunaYou can buy this from the supermarket and be sure to get the Tuna canned in the water. Tuna supplies  the body with  Omega-3 fat that helps reduce fat storage and convert fat to energy. Furthermore, it is also an excellent source of protein.

There you go, your top 5 On-the-Go Fat-Burning Snack food that you should have in your bag when you need them. But be sure you have no allergic to any food here. There should be no more excuses why you can’t eat the right food in any situation now.
